One of the most common requests I get from parents is for tips and tricks on raising bilingual babies and toddlers. My easy answer is always – read to them! One of the best ways to provide meaningful language input for your bilingual toddlers and babies is by reading them engaging picture books in Spanish.
Books not only provide a wide variety of new Spanish vocabulary for your young children, but they also have engaging pictures to help your children connect language with images. This connection fuels language learning in babies and toddlers. Bilingual books are an invaluable resource and tool for parents raising bilingual children.
Bilingual Board Books
This is one of my favorite Spanish board books of all time. It has really sturdy pages, is engaging for young children, and has great repetition for Spanish learning.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar, La Oruga Muy Hambrienta
This classic children’s story comes to life in this Spanish translation. I love that this book introduces counting and so many new Spanish vocabulary words for food.

This was one of our favorite books to read to the girls when they were babies and young toddlers. It is such an amazing way to build Spanish vocabulary with young children, and it has really fun pictures for them to look at. This would be a great gift for a Spanish baby book.

A classic children’s book for a reason, Buenas Noches Luna is one of my favorite Spanish bedtime stories for kids. My children and I read it almost every night for two years, and it is still one of our favorites.
